Practice Notes
Hold the mouthpiece with the thumb and first two fingers of your left hand a quarter of an inch from the small end, to minimize pressure.
Keep your hand relaxed and grip the mouthpiece lightly.
Play these studies with a piano or tuner.
Make sure that your pitch is accurate.
Take a big breath for each exercise.
Make sure that your breathing is full and relaxed.
Inhale on the syllable “HOE” which will drop your jaw and reduce throat resistance...

SUGGESTED DAILY ROUTINE FOR TRUMPET
This document is by no means a comprehensive prescription for practice. Rather, it provides a starting point for addressing a number of the most important “trumpet issues” which I feel need to be addressed every day. It is based on my own practice routine. I recommend practicing for short amounts of time several times a day. While the core of this routine shouldn’t take much more than an hour, several hours a day should be spent working on achieving mastery. These hours should include listening and “mental” practice as well as time actually playing the trumpet.
Students should feel free to add exercises in order to augment this routine, to change the exercises or their suggested ordering as needed, and even eventually to discard any materials which seem to offer no benefit. Creativity is as important as consistency. Have a goal in mind for each exercise, and enjoy the process!

Scritti intorno al 1972, erano unici del genere nella letteratura per tromba.
Qualche anno prima della sua morte gli chiesi se voleva ripubblicarli dal momento che erano fuori catalogo e che li consideravo strumento didattico sempre presente nel mio piano di studi.
Alla fine decise per offrirli alla comunità gratuitamente, manifestando la volontà di renderli pubblici sul sito del Conservatorio di Bologna, dove lui stesso trascorse i suoi studi.
Con ossequio e in breve tempo furono on-line.
Forlivese, in giovinezza studiò il trombone con successo ma problemi ai denti gli impedirono una sicura carriera.
Si trasferì a Terni ottenendo la cattedra di tromba e trombone all'Istituto Pareggiato Briccialdi.
Il compianto Maestro resta nel cuore di tutti i suoi allievi.
